UNC System Scholarships
NC State
Park Scholarship
The mission of the Park Scholarships program is to bring exceptional students to NC State, based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The program develops and supports Park Scholars in these areas, preparing them for lifelong contributions to the campus, state, nation, and world.
The Park Scholarships are named for the late Roy H. Park ’31, an NC State alumnus who created the charitable Park Foundation, dedicated to education, media, and the environment. With a generous grant from the Park Foundation, the Park Scholarships program was established in 1996 to provide a superb educational opportunity for exceptionally talented and well-prepared young men and women who merit the intellectual challenge of a distinguished faculty and a superior university.

Centennial Scholarship
The College of Textiles has one of the largest college-based scholarship programs at NC State University. The majority of scholarship support comes from the North Carolina Textile Foundation. The North Carolina Textile Foundation (NCTF) was established in December 1942 to aid and promote all types of textile education and research at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. One of the most important forms of support provided for the College of Textiles by the Foundation is the Scholarship Program. Established by the board of directors in 1980, the program has four components: the NCTF Centennial Scholars Program (created in 1999), NCTF Scholarships, NCTF Prestige Scholarships, and the NCTF Merit Graduate Fellowship Program.

UNC Chapel Hill
Morehead-Cain Scholar
WHAT IS THE MOREHEAD-CAIN?
Established in 1945 and modeled after the Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University, the Morehead-Cain is the oldest, most prestigious merit scholarship program in the United States. It is a unique, fully-funded, educational opportunity that includes an undergraduate scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as a summer enrichment program offering a life-enhancing combination of global travel, research, and real-world work experience in public service and the private sector. Morehead-Cain Scholars have access to support and advice from a dedicated Morehead-Cain advisor throughout their collegiate experience, and have the opportunity to interact with nearly 3,000 Morehead Alumni who live and work around the globe.
WHAT MAKES A MOREHEAD-CAIN SCHOLAR?
In every senior class, there is a handful of dynamic leaders that sets the standard higher for the rest—in conduct and achievement, in the classroom, and in extracurricular activities. They may be active in traditional activities such as student government, clubs, and the arts, or they may have ventured out into new or less established areas. In either case they have added to the positive spirit of our school and community. Their advice is sought, and you call on them to resolve issues. They get involved because they care about their community—not for selfish reasons. These students may challenge you with their creativity and energy, but they excite and reward you as an educator. Without them, the senior class would have less luster. It is from this elite group we hope to select our nominees. Morehead-Cain nominees must demonstrate all of the following criteria:
• Scholarship
• Leadership
• Moral force of character
• Physical vigor (participation in school athletics, dance, gymnastics, karate, etc)
The Morehead-Cain is merit-based; neither financial need nor a student’s current interest in attending UNC should be considered. Nomination for the Morehead-Cain does not require a student to commit to attend UNC.
